Fulton County, not the city, runs voter registration and county, state and federal elections for Alpharetta voters. The next election is the General and Special Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. City of Alpharetta elections are held in odd-numbered years; the next general municipal election is Nov. 2, 2027, according to the city clerk.

If any race goes to a runoff, the county lists a general runoff on Tuesday, Dec. 1, with early voting Saturday, Nov. 21, to Wednesday, Nov. 25. The registration deadline for federal runoff races is Monday, Nov. 2.

Register or update your registration

Register online through the Georgia Secretary of State’s online voter registration site with a Georgia driver’s license or state ID. You can also register in person at a county elections office, including the North Fulton Service Center, 7741 Roswell Road, Room 251, Sandy Springs.

To register in Georgia you must be a U.S. citizen and a Georgia resident, be at least 17 1/2 to register and 18 to vote, not be serving a sentence for a felony involving moral turpitude, and not have been found mentally incompetent by a judge. A precinct card follows by mail in three to four weeks; you do not need to bring it to vote.

Early voting near Alpharetta

Early (advance) voting runs Tuesday, Oct. 13, through Friday, Oct. 30. Any Fulton County voter can use any of the county’s 32 early voting sites. Hours at every site:

  • Monday to Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: noon to 5 p.m.

Election Day polling places

On Election Day you must vote at your assigned polling place, not at an early voting site. Find it on the My Voter Page, which also shows your sample ballot. Polling places can change between elections, so check before Nov. 3.

Photo ID

Georgia requires photo ID to vote in person. The county lists these as acceptable:

  • A Georgia driver’s license, even if expired, or a temporary license
  • A Georgia state ID card, including a Georgia public college or university student ID (private school IDs are not accepted)
  • A U.S. passport, military ID or tribal ID
  • A Georgia weapons carry license
  • A government employee ID from a federal, state, county or city agency
  • A free Georgia voter ID card, available from the county elections office

Voting absentee by mail

Request an absentee ballot online through the state’s absentee ballot request portal or with a paper application from the city’s voting page, by Friday, Oct. 23. Return it:

  • by mail, so it arrives by Election Day, Nov. 3;
  • in person at a county registrar’s office, including the North Fulton Service Center; or
  • in a drop box at one of seven early voting sites, including the Alpharetta Library, during early voting hours through Oct. 30.

You cannot turn in an absentee ballot at your Election Day polling place, the county says.

What this means for you

  • Not registered at your current address? Monday, Oct. 5, is the last day.
  • The Alpharetta Library on Park Plaza is the in-town early voting site and has a drop box.
  • Bring photo ID, and check your Election Day polling place on the My Voter Page.
